06/05/2008 I have played at Penrith GC as a visitor for over 30 years and have always found the set up ideal. From the secretary, pro and catering staff the service has been first class - until this year! I visited the course with 3 friends on April 11 2008 and was charged £120(4x£30) for one round. The course was playing winter conditions,several tees were on the fairway, one temporary green(on the fairway at the 2nd) and all greens had been hollow tined. On completion we complained about the condition and asked why summer rates had been charged for a course so obviously still playing under winter conditions. We were told by the pro that it was one price the whole year round regardless of conditions. This was confirmed by the secretary in an off-hand manner bordering on rudeness and he was clearly not interested in our complaints. In all the years playng at Penrith there has always been a winter and summer rate and I feel the service provided by the club in general was less than satisfactory. Regrettfully I will not play the course again.
